    Dear MaryAnn,

    Yes, you can make money and be successful selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. Like any other home based business you will get out of it what you put into it. Many people think they can buy into a program, stock some product and somehow think the product will magically sell itself. If it was that easy we would all be rich, and you will find that is what some people would like us to believe.

    Don’t purchase more Mary Kay Cosmetics than you feel comfortable with, and can afford, regardless of what anyone tells you. You can always order more inventory once you have orders coming in. Remember advertising, or marketing is just as important, if not more important than having an inventory. I have seen way to many people starting businesses, especially home based businesses that have a zero dollar budget for advertising, which is usually what makes the whole system fail. After all if you are not recieving orders than there is no point of having an inventory, and only effective marketing, or advertising will bring you orders which will help you move your inventory.

    Learn the difference between marketing and selling. Many people believe they are the same thing, which is usually why their business is not successful. You must also find a way to effectively market yourself. You have to distinguish yourself apart from all your competitors (everyone else selling Mary Kay Cosmetics in your area is a competitor) regardless of whether you or they want to look at it that way. You need to develop a unique selling point that will help you with your marketing and advertising whether it is online, or offline. Do not believe the lie that everyone is your prospect. I can never figure out why people work so hard attempting to convince someone to buy their product or service when there are people out there who already want your product or service who don’t need convincing. You just need to focus on finding those people by using effective marketing. Then once those people come to you, because they found you through effective marketing it is very easy to close the sale, rather than try to convince someone who most likely wasn’t interested in the first place.

    The 7 Great Lies Of Network Marketing is a fabulous book and it helped me get stated in the network marketing business and Mary Kay Cosmetics.

    Cory has given you many good things to think about. Mary Kay has wonderful products but like anything else in the network marketing field you do need to be careful as to what information you listen to from your upline, let’s face it they are in for themselves (as are most business owners) They are looking for every way they can to increase their sales and that means getting you to buy more stuff.

    I have started a website to try and help women see through some of the lies of network marketing especially geared toward Mary Kay Independent Consultants. Please stop by and take a look around, I think you will find some valuable information.

    I love my Mary Kay Business, I meet wonderful women from all over and am selling a wonderful product that I feel good about sharing with other women. But, I do know their is a better way to run my direct sales business and hope to help other women learn the tricks of the trade!
